Here's the buzz ... A bee's interdependence with plants makes them an excellent example of a type of symbiosis, an association that is beneficial to both parties. So our interdependence with each other is a symbiotic relationship that benefits each one of us. Jo 1. What
is your current occupation? Is this what you chose to be doing at I am retired for the second time.
I was credit manager of Heilig Meyers Furniture Co for 27 years and they went
bankrupt. I went on vacation and when I came back no job. The first month was
ok because David was home because of surgery on his foot so I was busy and had
someone to talk with. A very good friend from my church was manager at Haverty's
Furniture and had been wanting me to come help him out part time so after a month
I started working 30 hours a week. That job lasted a year and a half and they
did not need part time help any longer. I was very glad to retire this time. I
stay busy taking care of my parents and doing church work. I love being retired. 2. If time/talent/money were no object, what would your dream occupation be? My
dream occupation would be to help young adults manage their lives better and enjoy
their children. I would love to teach them to cook and not eat out and to enjoy
one another as much as Jack and I have enjoyed our family and each other. 3. What did/do your parents do for a living? Has this had any influence on your career choices? My dad retired from Southern Railway after 42 years of
service and Mother was a full time homemaker. She stayed home cooked, cleaned,
made all of our clothes. She had 3 daughters and she really spend a lot of time
sewing. I did not choose a job career because of what they did, but I stayed with
the job because of the way my parents taught me about stability. 4. Have you ever had to choose between having a career and having a family? I worked outside the home and had a family. I felt as if I was able to do both. When the children were growing up I knew what that were doing, in fact I think I knew more about my children than some mothers who stayed home. I believe you can have a career and family and be successful with both. 5. In your opinion, what is the easiest job in the world? What is the hardest? Why? The easiest job would be one where you did not have to deal with
people. 6. Name five things on your desk right now? Five things on my desk,
glue, stapler, address book, pens, telephone. 7. Name five things that you need to get done by Friday? Study for Bible class, take parents
to dr., take friend to dr, deliver meals on wheels, clean house. 8. Name five things in your fridge right now? Five things in my fridge,
skim milk, yogurt, diet Pepsi, cabbage, and hot dogs. 9. Name five things that you last thought on in the past hour? What
am I going to cook this weekend as all the family will be in. 10. Name five things you want that you can not afford? Hot tub in the
yard, swimming pool (why I don't know I can't swim) a car that would be easier
for my parent to get in and out of, a cruise, a complete makeover. 11. Name five things that really make you mad? Someone following on
my bumper 12. Name five things that really make you happy? Having my family come
home for a meal and fellowship
Jonathan 1. What is your current occupation? Is this what you chose to be doing at this point in your life? Why or why not? Pilot. Yes, it is pretty much what I chose. I would prefer to fly passengers, but I get to fly a big jet to a lot of neat places, live where I want and have lots of time off with my family. I can't complain, but sometimes I still do. 2. If time/talent/money were no object, what would your dream occupation be? I am with Joanna on this one. I would be a shuttle pilot/astronaut. Medicine would be my second choice. 3. What did/do your parents do for a living? Has this had any influence on your career choices? My father was an electrical engineer and a Captain in the Navy. He designed guidance systems for torpedoes. My mother stayed at home to care for four children (BIG JOB)! I think I got my interest in science, and gadgets from my father and my interest in medicine from my mother. Both parents always encouraged us and my mother has always supported my career decisions. 4. Have you ever had to choose between having a career and having a family? No. I am very lucky in that regard. Bonnie has passed many difficult and lonely weeks caring for our children while I worked. Bonnie makes everything possible. 5. In your opinion, what is the easiest job in the world? What is the hardest? Why? I would have to say that the easiest job would be nursing. Especially the kind Lucy does! LOL. I think being a food critic would be great if it paid enough. The hardest job would have to be the one my brother Bert did. He investigated reports of child abuse and neglect in New York City for 25 years. I could never do that. 6. Name five things on your desk right now? A DVD called le Roi Lion 3 (Lion King 3). A green calculator. A stack of realtor's business cards. A picture of Justin and Leigh. A cell phone in a cardboard "Lord of the Rings" holder. 7. Bonnie 1. What is your current occupation? Is this what you chose to be doing at this point in your life? Why or why not? Homemaker/Mom. 2. If time/talent/money were no object, what would your dream occupation be? I WOULD have been a professional dancer. Of course my career would have long been over by now if so. After that, I still think I would have enjoyed being a paralegal too, had I finished my degree. The one year I worked as one was very interesting and I got a thrill walking into the courtroom, prepared for trial! 3. What did/do your parents do for a living? Has this had any influence on your career choices? My mother was a seamstress and my father worked in Entomology for the US Forestry Service. My mother being a good mom helped me want to be one also, so in that way, yes. 4. Have you ever had to choose between having a career and having a family? Yes. I tried to finish my degree after Emily was born but once Erik came along, it was history. Jonathan's schedule isn't very conducive to me working full-time, going to school at night and trying to raise 3 kids effectively. I did go back to college when the kids were small but it just seemed too much a lapse in time to pick up where I left off and do it well. I have no real regrets (a twinge sometimes when I'm surrounded by "degreed", career-oriented people). I mostly feel very lucky to be able to stay home. 5. In your opinion, what is the easiest job in the world? What is the hardest? Why? Easiest? Hmmm, maybe a "greeter" at Walmart. "Here's a cart, wanna sticker?, and here, throw this sales flyer in the bottom of the cart and leave it ... someone else will pick it up after it blows all over the parking lot." Hardest? PARENTING! PARENTING! PARENTING! 6. Name five things on your desk right now? OK, other than what Jonathan mentioned - scratch paper, CD-RW, phone, white plastic thing with a bunch of junk stuffed in it, jar where my pens and scissors are SUPPOSED to be! 7. Name five things that you need to get done by Friday? 2 doctor's appointments 8. Name five things in your fridge right now? yogurt 9. Name five things that you last thought on in the past hour? why
did I believe the landlord when he said he'd finish the floors in 3 days 10. Name five things you want that you can not afford? the same mas
in Provence as Jonathan wants 11. Name five things that really make you mad? when the kids drop their things
in the floor and leave them 12. Name five things that really make you happy? Travel
Christine 1. What is your current occupation? Is this what you chose to be doing at this point in your life? Why or why not? am a stay-at-home-mum, and run a
part-time childcare business from my home. Yes, this is what I've chosen to do.
Because, this is right for me. Before I started a family I fully intended being
a stay at home mum and watching my children grow 24/7, I didn't want to miss a
heartbeat and I haven't. I have bent over backwards doing for my family (Bonnie
& Jonathan know this only too well), hard work, never just dropped them off
to activities...I've shared in what ever they are doing, and I have tried to give
them experiences that most kids and even adults won't have in their life time
(I must give my husband credit for that also). I have an extended family through
childcare, I love the children and think of them on non childcare days, and I
have grown close to families. Bonnie, Jonathan, and children, were a past childcare
family of mine. I consider Bonnie my very best American/French :) friend. Although,
for some years now, we have lived with many miles between us, I know she is there
for me with support, and I always value her opinion. I thank the Whighams for
introducing me to the Steelman family..though childcare. Childcare has indeed
enriched my life with true friends, also allows flexibility in weekly life to
get what I need done for my family, and time for travel opportunities. I am truly
blessed! 2. If time/talent/money were no object, what would your dream occupation be? A full time tourist with my family, and that's fairdinkum! 3. What did/do your parents do for a living? Has this had any influence on your career choices? Mum, was a stay-at-home-mum. Dad, was a labourer in a wool
shed. I am thankful that my mum stayed at home. Money was always tight for my
parents, but they believed "if there's a will there's a way." They watched
their pennies wisely, and taught their three girls that "things" were
not important. We lived a simple life, I never heard them talking about things
they wanted. They seemed content with our family life. They loved the outdoors.
My father was a champion fisherman and we grew up eating fresh seafood, he shared
his bountiful catches with the neighbours and extended family. Yes, I guess they
did influence my life, as did my grandparents. I was taught to appreciate all
the simple things in life, a love of the outdoors, to see as much of the world
as I could, and that there isn't anything more important than being there for
your kids. Yes, I chose to follow in their footsteps. 4. Have you ever had to choose between having a career and having a family? Never

PHONES WHILE DRIVING THEIR CARS 12. Name five things that really make you happy? When my kids are happy

Thank you all! I'm home for two days, then gone again tomorrow for a week, but will come back with some new photos and a new questionnaire. Feel free to send me your answers to this one while I'm gone if you haven't yet ... I'll post them when I get back. Also, I've included a link to Beehive archives below (once there, scroll to bottom of Archives page). See you back here soon!
